Aqueous waste streams are generated by many processes and are commonly treated by biological methods. However, when biological treatment is not technically or economically practical then incineration is the best alternative. Over the past fifty years, Selas Fluid has supplied over 35
T-Thermal liquid incinerators handling this special class of waste, meeting the required emission limits and providing high online availability. We have units in operation from 1 million (0.3MW) to over 120 million Btu/hr (35MW).
Incineration of waste streams that are basically salt brines, aqueous liquids containing organic contaminates and inorganic salts or metals offer a particular challenge. The foremost consideration is the complete destruction of organic components. The presence of inorganic metals, most typically alkalis, requires the designer to consider reactions within the gas phase as well as reactions between the formed salts and refractory linings.
Typical applications include:
- Spent Caustic from Ethylene Plants
- Refinery Wastes
- Pharmaceutical Plant Wastes
- Agricultural Chemical Plant Waste
- Bio-diesel Plant Waste
