Blue Bell, PA, December 5, 2008 – Selas Fluid announced today the appointment of John W. McDermott as President and CEO. He succeeds Dr. Samir J. Serhan, who has been named as Managing Director for Linde Engineering, Selas Fluid’s parent company.
Mr. McDermott joins Selas Fluid after six years with Plastomer Technologies, an EnPro Industries Company. While there, he held a variety of leadership positions in the areas of product management, continuous improvement, and new product development. He served as Director of Operations and Engineering in his most recent role at Plastomer.
Prior to his tenure at Plastomer, Mr. McDermott spent 12 years at Selas Fluid, holding several positions with the Company, including Sales and Marketing Manager for Furnace Products. During this time, Mr. McDermott successfully designed and sold fired heaters and thermal oxidizers to the refining, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

Mr. McDermott holds an MBA in Marketing Management from Saint Joseph’s University and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
